Welcome to It's Starting! We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use our mobile application and landing page.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: You can use our app without an account. If you choose to create an optional account, we collect your credentials (such as email) to save favorites. This data is securely stored using Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS).
Local Ticket Parsing: When sharing tickets (.pkpass), unzipping and extraction occur entirely locally in-memory on your device. We do not store or transmit raw files.
On-Device Calendar Access: If enabled, the app scans locally for movie-related events. We do not upload or read personal, non-movie events.
Location Data: Used to find movie theaters near you and to detect when you are at a theater. If you enable arrival reminders, the app registers geofences around a small number of specific theaters (such as ones you have a ticket or favorite saved for) so your device can remind you to log your movie when you arrive; this may occur while the app is closed. We never record, store, or transmit a history of your location, and we do not continuously track you. You can decline or revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings; the app's core features still work.
Crowdsourced Logs and Ratings: Logged wait times and auditorium ratings (including any written comments) are aggregated to calculate public averages. Public stats never display your identity. If you have an account, your logs are associated with it so the app can show you your own contribution history; if you delete your account, this link is permanently removed and your contributions become anonymous.
2. Third-Party Service Providers
We utilize secure database hosting via Supabase, and database lookup/sync via Trakt.tv and TMDB.
3. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: open your Profile and tap Delete Account. This removes your login credentials, favorite theaters, and personal history. Wait times you contributed remain in anonymous community averages. You can also request deletion by emailing info@itsstarting.com.
