Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 24, 2026

It's Starting! (the "App") is operated by E&M Kazanjian, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use the App and our landing page (together, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. You can use our app without an account. If you choose to create an optional account, we collect your credentials (such as email) to save favorites and associate the feedback you submit with your account. This data is securely stored using Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS).

Local Ticket Parsing. When sharing tickets (.pkpass), unzipping and extraction occur entirely locally in-memory on your device. We do not store or transmit raw files.

Location Data. Location is used to find movie theaters near you and to detect when you are at a theater. If notifications are enabled, the app registers geofences around a small number of specific theaters, such as ones you have a ticket or favorite saved for, so your device can remind you to log your movie when you arrive; this may occur while the app is closed. We never record, store, or transmit a history of your location, and we do not continuously track you. You can decline or revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings. When you log a movie, we may record how far you were from the theater as a simple verification: a distance and a yes/no, never your coordinates or a history of your location.

Optional Browser Reminders. If you ask the web app to remind you to review a movie, we securely store the browser notification subscription and the movie, theater, and estimated reminder time needed to send that one reminder. The subscription is not shown to theaters and is not used for advertising. You may decline or revoke notification permission, and your saved review remains available when you return to the web app.

Anonymous Web Visitor Counts. When you use the web app without signing in, we create a random identifier and store it in first-party browser storage. We attach it to anonymous web logs so we can count likely distinct guest browsers without collecting a name or email address. It does not contain device information and does not collect additional location data. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, or using another browser or device creates a new identifier. When you are signed in, we use your account ID for internal counting instead.

Crowdsourced Logs. Logged wait times are aggregated to calculate public averages shown in the app. These averages are combined across many users and are not labeled with your identity. Please note that "aggregated" is not the same as "anonymous": we keep a private, internal record of which account submitted each log, because we need it for moderation, abuse prevention, and honoring account-deletion requests. We do not attach your identity to the public averages.

2. Room and Auditorium Feedback Shared With Theaters

A core purpose of It's Starting! is helping theaters find and fix real problems in their rooms. When you submit feedback about a specific auditorium, such as comments or ratings about sound, picture, seats, cleanliness, or temperature, that feedback may be shown to the relevant theater through an operator dashboard.

What theaters see: the feedback itself, the auditorium it refers to, and the date and time it was recorded.

What theaters never see: your email address, your name, your account, your location history, or any other personal information. Your feedback is shown to theaters without your identity attached. We hold the internal record of who submitted it; we do not share that record with theaters.

Because feedback is tied to a specific room, date, and time, it is possible that very specific feedback about a sparsely attended showing could be associated with an individual by someone who has other information, such as seating records. For that reason we describe this feedback as "not personally identified" rather than "anonymous." If you would prefer feedback not be associated with a particular showing, avoid including identifying details in your comments.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We use secure database hosting via Supabase, and movie data via TMDB. As described in Sections 1 and 2, we also make auditorium-level feedback available to theater operators through a dashboard. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Optional Letterboxd handoff. If you choose "Log on Letterboxd," the App opens Letterboxd using a supported link. On iOS, the movie title and visit date are included so Letterboxd can prepare a diary entry for you to review and confirm. On Android and the web, the App opens the relevant movie page, generally using its TMDB identifier, and you decide whether to log it. We do not receive your Letterboxd credentials or access your Letterboxd account, and we do not automatically publish anything. Your auditorium ratings, theater comments, and other survey answers are not sent to Letterboxd. Once Letterboxd opens, its handling of information is governed by its own privacy notice and terms.

4. Your Choices and Data Deletion

You can revoke location and notification permissions at any time in your device settings. If you have an account, you can delete it and the personal data associated with it from within the app, using the Delete Account option in your profile. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize the data linked to it in accordance with this policy; aggregate averages that no longer identify you may remain.

5. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
